2021 Constitution Day Debate Highlighted Internet Immunity Issues Now Before the Supreme Court听

In February, the Supreme Court of the United States is hearing oral听arguments on the scope of the immunity granted to Internet companies by听鈥淪ection 230.鈥 This immunity, granted by Congress in 1996 鈥 two years听before Google 鈥 is sometimes referred to as 鈥渢he 26 words that created the听Internet.鈥 The Court鈥檚 decisions on the two cases before it could听dramatically reshape the Internet environment.听
